A New Plan

As always, hi, I'm Taaro. Solo game dev doing Farewell.
With all that I have commented in the past posts, I wanted to work on the game again but I want to approach it in a different way, with a new plan. One that takes the main axis as the importance of the game for me, and not something I don't like.
The Plan

I have been thinking about it and then I decided that the steps I am going to take are the following:
World
Story
Combat
Art
Building
World
First of all, the world. Although I had something defined of the world that the characters will go through, I don't have all the rules of it. There are many pending things and questions that I have to answer myself in order to be always faithful to these rules. It is a lot of world-building but it seems necessary to me being a particular scenario.

Story
The story involves three characters, each with a theme. Now, while I had found the themes for two of the characters, I could never find the theme for the third. I shuffled through dozens but felt they were a little weak to explore. But last month, with all the situations I had to deal with, I was able to find that third theme.
Having found the themes I want to deal with I am in the process of studying them in depth, in order to write a story that develops and explores the different views and evolutions of the same, and thus have a character who lives these experiences.

Combat
In other posts I mentioned that I would like everything to revolve around the same concepts, and combat is no exception. Previously I made the mistake of aiming to make a fun combat, instead of it being linked to the story and the world. While there are things I think I did well in the combat, I would like to redo it once everything is defined, so that both go hand in hand and are part of a whole.

Art
I liked the art of my game, but it was made simply because it was what I could do and a color palette was "pretty". Obviously, I had other points to consider but it's very generic art. There is no way to differentiate it among thousands of other games, so once I have decided the story and the world I will define an art style to go with it and not just exist.

Building
Once I have all this, it will be a matter of putting together the scenes. This will be the easiest stage for me, because it is to build on what is already there and move forward. Then I'll put together a new demo tweaking the current one and I'll add a new demo exploring things that I missed. From there, my plan is to keep working on the game and not add more demos for a while.
Sumary
This is the new plan I have in mind, and I hope it works. For the time being, I'm going to take it easy so I can go back to work without getting frustrated and doing what I like.
And you?
Do you have a plan?
Did you had a plan that failed?
